THEIR RAW MATERIAL IS NOT WORDS, IT IS LIGHT
Photographers are writers of light and as writers they take reality and record it, they version it, they turn it into novels, essays and poetry. In fashion photography there are two types of photographers: those who are photographers and take fashion photos and the artists who find in photography another plastic expression for fashion. Could Thais Varela be one of the latter? Her colors, textures, landscapes, backgrounds, contrasts, take us into her universe, more and more plastic in each of her shots. Her photographs seem more like abstract paintings than photos. Avoiding clichés, she defines herself as a creative photographer.

SU MATERIA PRIMA NO SON LAS PALABRAS, ES LA LUZ
Las fotógrafas son escritoras de la luz y como escritoras toman la realidad y la registran, la versionan, la convierten en novelas, ensayos y poesía. En la fotografía de moda hay dos tipos de fotógrafas: las que son fotógrafas y hacen fotos de moda y las artistas que encuentran en la fotografía otra expresión plástica para la moda. ¿Thais Varela podría ser de estas segundas? Sus colores, texturas, paisajes, fondos, contrastes, nos adentran en su universo, cada vez más plástico en cada una de sus tomas. Sus fotografías parecen más cuadros abstractos que fotos. Huyendo de tópicos, se define a si misma como fotógrafa creativa.

Of the instant we see Thais tells us: "Aritz among hydrangeas, from the summer of 2018 when we were going for a bike ride in search of beautiful places to photograph". Would it be a Sunday? Better, it would be during the week, when the world goes on but you don't. They are so beautiful photos that I leave here bellow for you the original session.

Del instante que vemos Thais nos cuenta:
“Aritz entre hortensias, del verano del 2018 cuando nos íbamos de paseo en bici en busca de lugares bonitos para fotografiar”. ¿Sería un domingo? Mejor, sería entre semana, cuando el mundo sigue pero tú no. Son tan bonitas las fotos que os dejo a continuación la sesión original.
