This year, Festival de Cannes and Maison Dior got the peculiar coincidence of being in the same business the last 70 years, and this business is called glamour. Fashion needs the cinema as the cinema needs fashion. Since the beginning of the cinema, the industry has knew that the feeling of glamour was an important tool to keep the audience more faithful. That sophistication, that unreal world, make people feel more comfortable inside that old mirror palaces. They could live that lives that couldn't live even in dreams. Believe it or not, today we still doing that. At the same time, with the years, fashion needed that glamour to justify its own existence. The image of a movie star create a perfect match, hardly knowing who is giving the glamour to who. Nowadays, red carpets are as important as the same festivals: who is attending, what are they wearing, which will be the next tendance.
But, even having all the focus on them, women still being invisible in both industries, fashion and cinema. Being majority in the fashion industry, the main heads of the brands still being men. In cinema, the name of female directors are very few compared with male directors. Hardly, we have to take some minutes to think a female main name and, for sure, at last, the list will be weight more big in the male side.
But, don't worry, we got motives for faith. This year, Nicole Kidman, in her 50's, looks stunning represented in four movies, one of them with Sofia Coppola.
